The Lignan Affair (Open) Empty
PostSubject: The Lignan Affair (Open)   The Lignan Affair (Open) Icon_minitimeWed Jul 21, 2010 6:17 pm

Republic Task Force Briefing: One standard month ago, Republic Intelligence received a tip-off about strange Imperial activities from a deep-cover informant. The informant reported that a large force of mining vessels had been dispatched to the remote Phaegon system, deep in the Outer Rim. Even stranger than this sudden move was the fact that the Sith Empire hadn't hired a corporation to do the mining but had instead equipped vessels of its own navy for the task, indicating that their purpose was so secret that only a few had been trusted with knowledge of it. The Phaegon system was never surveyed by any Republic-affiliated corporation or mining guild, and the Jedi Archives had only basic information about the area, which lies deep in Sith territory. Despite attempts by Republic Intelligence to investigate further, the curtain of secrecy was near-perfect, and the mining vessels completed their mission without interference.

Six standard days ago, a Sith Navy dreadnought was dispatched to the same system after having its transport bays emptied of starfighters and ground assault vehicles. A deep-cover informant managed to stow away on the vessel, and four standard days ago contacted the Republic via subspace burst. He reported that one of the moons of Phaegon III was completely destroyed by systematic strip mining, leaving behind only a debris field of useless rock. The vacant holds of the dreadnought, named Kirrek Avenger, were quickly filled with a crystalline mineral the Sith referred to as Lignan. The Jedi Council was consulted, and according to the archives, Lignan can be drawn upon to amplify the powers of a user of the Dark Side of the Force. It is also usable in lightsabers, causing the blade to burn brighter and hotter. Needless to say, the Senate was disturbed at the news; a large amount of Lignan might re-ignite the war and lead to Sith victory.

A task force was immediately called together to intercept the Kirrek Avenger and destroy its cargo; according to the Jedi Council, Lignan is of no use to Jedi, and merely capturing it would solve only half the problem. Since the Republic is at peace with the Sith Empire according to the terms of the Treaty of Coruscant, the Republic military can provide no assistance. If captured, all members of the task force must deny any involvement with the Republic; no rescue mission can be mounted without re-igniting a war the Republic is not yet equipped to win, so it would be wise to avoid capture even if doing so means death. The task force should also be aware that Imperial agent Feyas Laeth captains the Kirrek Avenger. Laeth, a Chiss female (pictured below), is one of the youngest members of Imperial Intelligence to hold such a high rank, meaning that she is both clever and utterly ruthless. Caution is advised. May the Force be with you.

The Lignan Affair (Open) TheLignanAffairintro
Imperial Agent Feyas Laeth

OOC Description: Hey, everyone. I recently finished reading Crosscurrent, by Paul S. Temp, which I would highly recommend; it features not only the Old Republic period, but also Jaden Korr of Jedi Academy, for those who play on our server. The book contains flawlessly-written descriptions of Lignan which intrigued me; it also left a plot hook that I decided to use for my first roleplay on this board. I also became extremely excited when I saw that Chiss were announced as a playable species for the Imperial Agent class. Combining the two, I came up with the plotline for The Lignan Affair, which you see before you. To embellish the simple words a bit, I downloaded a Chiss species pack and some KOTOR maps and took a few screenshots. Then I spent a while making the opening crawl with some specialized Mac software; unfortunately, the video quality went significantly downhill during the conversion to YouTube, but I think it came out pretty well regardless.

I've listed this topic as "Open", and I intend to hold to that, but I'm a stickler for in-universe realism as well as a lover of epic plots. This simply means that all characters who want to be a part of this thread should have a good reason for doing so; most, if not all, characters should be members of the Republic task force, which could easily include Jedi, Troopers, and Smugglers alike, but if you can come up with a good, clever reason to get aboard the Kirrek Avenger apart from the task force, go ahead. A few final things: for the sake of a good RP, please put at least a paragraph in every post, and please spell-check your posts before submitting them. Paste them into a word processor if you have to. Finally, I have no problem with the Kirrek Avenger ending up totally shredded and destroyed, but remember, it's full of elite troops, and the task force is small. Also, I would like Feyas to survive; I intend for her to become a recurring antagonist.

Okay, soapbox rant over. I look forward to RPing with any and all who decide to join.

PostSubject: Re: The Lignan Affair (Open)   The Lignan Affair (Open) Icon_minitimeWed Jul 21, 2010 6:24 pm

A bead of sweat flowed down Ilvos Gedd's face, moving from his brow to his chin and falling to the durasteel deck plating of the little shuttle he piloted. His hands gripped the controls so hard they were white; his face was fixed in an expression of absolute concentration. He was trying to control his breathing and calm himself, but every inhalation was still a shallow gasp. Outside the forward viewports, the guns of the Kirrek Avenger tracked the little shuttle's progress, guns that could turn the hull shielding Ilvos from the vacuum of space into less than dust with a single volley. Behind him, the Republic task force waited, sitting on benches meant for Sith engine technicians. Republic Intelligence had intercepted and captured the shuttle crew and passengers, allowing the task force a way onto the mighty dreadnought that carried such a deadly cargo. But if they were pulverized in a hail of laser fire, it would all be for nothing.

Long seconds ticked by, each agonizing; normally Ilvos liked a gamble, even with his own life as the stakes, but the odds here were too bad to be worth gambling on. If something went wrong, he wouldn't last even a second before his body was vaporized. At age twenty-seven, that wasn't a prospect he looked forward to. A full minute passed before the communications array lit up, broadcasting a cold, aloof voice throughout the little craft. "Shuttle B-12, you are cleared for docking. Use bay 3, section 7. Kirrek Avenger control out." As soon as the channel terminated, Ilvos breathed one of the heaviest sighs of relief of his life. Guiding the shuttle into the bay as directed, he gently set it down. He'd heard rumors that the mere presence of Lignan and its Dark Side aura made Jedi feel violently sick, but he didn't feel anything, so he decided it must be restricted to the crazy Force-monks. He turned back to face the rest of the task force, lowering the loading ramp as he did.

"Well, we're in. Funny to ask at this point, but do we have a plan? I'm just here for thrills and fireworks."

Old-aged Traxex Wraw was aboard IIlvos' ship. His glory days of a trooper were over, now an old jedi. Traxex perferred to handle a blaster, but since a lightsaber was better, it was safer to use it.

"Same here. I've been bored almost half of my life. Need some time to have some fun, ya know? The old man looked at everyone. He obviously stuck out like a sore thumb. Everyone else was in their twenties and thirties. Somthing told him that he was being laughed at. "Bah, who needs them anyway." Trax said

Ilvos raised an eyebrow. "I thought you Jedi were all about peace, serenity, and shoving virtue down Sith throats at lightsaber point. Guess I learn something every day." Getting up from his chair, he twirled his blaster twice around his index finger to check for balance, making sure the safety was on so he wouldn't accidentally shoot the inside of the ship. It was a habit of his when going into a bad situation; he'd already checked and rechecked all of his gear before he boarded the shuttle. Looking out of the transport's main viewport, he saw a Sith officer flanked by troopers walking across the hangar. "Better think fast; the greetings and blaster bolts to the head committee is on its way." The smuggler watched how the Sith moved; they walked so straight it looked like an inflexible metal rod had replaced their spines. He mimicked the posture, noting how uncomfortable it felt to someone used to being loose, and headed for the ramp. "Wish me luck."

He'd put on the stark grey uniform of one of the captured engineers; it was stiff, hot, and difficult to move in, especially given that it was layered over his normal clothes. Still, it might sell the deception long enough for the task force to get deeper into the dreadnought and locate the cargo. As the officer and troopers approached, Ilvos snapped to attention and saluted. "Combat Engineer Telim Q'kos reporting for duty, sir." The officer turned up his nose, obviously unimpressed. "You salute with your other hand, Ensign. And what's that stain on your uniform?" Ilvos's heart was beating so loudly he was sure the Sith would hear it, but his salvation came a moment later. "Have you been drinking?" He could work with that; slurring his speech slightly, he made his reply. "A lil' bit, sir." The officer shook his head in disgust. "I ought to have you demoted to Cadet, and flogged besides. But I've been given orders to make haste. Complete the repairs quickly and I'll submit a somewhat less scathing report to your superiors."

Relief flooded Ilvos's mind once again. "Yes, sir. Right away, sir." "Follow me, then, Ensign, and make it quick." The four of them headed off across the hangar bay. Turning halfway back to face the little shuttle, the smuggler gave the old Jedi he'd heard called Traxex a thumbs up. Hopefully the rest of the task force could sneak out of the transport and look for the cargo bays while he had the hangar guards occupied. In the mean time, he was going to have to figure out how to give these three the slip...

(OOC: I think for the sake of continuation, it'd be nice to finish an RP before we start a new one. For Vyynn, I like to have a singular timeline where I can put events on.

I would like to do this RP, but several things restrict me. I can't have this take place BEFORE the events in 'Rakghouls', because then I'd recognize Traxex. But I can't have it after, because the events of Rakghoul haven't finished yet.

Just throwing that out there. Sorry, I won't be participating until Rakghouls finishes.

EDIT: That was a FANTASTIC setup, btw. Thank you for encouraging that this kind of thing, and I hope it carries over into ToR.)

It was impossible to tell whether Ilvos's message had reached the task force; he could only hope that they got on the move before the Sith decided to inspect the shuttle more closely. Following the officer and troopers closely, the smuggler noted that (unsurprisingly) the ship exemplified all of the standard attributes of the Sith architectural style. The entire dreadnought was shaped like a spearpoint, ripping through space as though the darkness were the flesh of enemies. Every wall was sharp and linear; there were no decorations, no viewports, nothing but perfectly symmetrical lights that shed a soft red glow over every hallway. Troopers and various crew members marched stiffly up and down the halls, turning to salute crisply as the officer passed; it was an art they learned quickly after seeing companions executed for failing to give their superiors the respect required in the presence of one's betters under the rigid, brutal Sith code of laws.

The group made their way steadily aft, toward the engines apparently in need of a tune-up at the perfect moment; Ilvos hadn't been told specifically how that came to pass, but he suspected that Republic Intelligence's deep-cover agent was still aboard, and had probably engaged in minor sabotage to provide a window of opportunity for the task force. As he walked past a large, thick door labeled "Cargo Chamber C," he had to suppress a gasp. He had never seen Massassi before, but there was no mistaking the hulking, red-skinned humanoids with their deadly polearms and blasters for anything else. The species was on the very verge of extinction because of their exploitation by the Dark Lords of the Sith, and though few remained in the galaxy, they had been bred for loyalty for so many generations that most of the survivors simply lacked the ability to even dream about so much as a moment's disobedience, let alone freedom.

The engine room doors slid open to admit the four Humans, and a wave of heat buffeted them as they neared the massive sublight propulsion system. It was inactive, or they would've been deafened by its humming given how close they were. "Get going, Ensign," the officer snapped, and Ilvos saluted, headed over to the nearest computer console, and started running a diagnostic. He was in an excellent position for further sabotage: if he could seal the engine room doors, set the sublight drives to overload, and find some way to escape without letting the Sith in, he could cripple the Kirrek Avenger, leaving it crippled and drifting while simultaneously destroying all of the aft cargo bays and thus about half of the lignan. As he pondered how to do this, and how to get rid of the Sith so that he could, he heard the officer's voice as the man spoke over a communicator. "Captain, the engineer is aboard and running his diagnostic. He understands the importance of speed."

A voice as cold as the void of space behind a tidally-locked planet answered him. "Engineer? Singular? Arrest him." The Sith didn't question their orders, drawing their blasters immediately and pointing them at Ilvos, who slowly raised his hands. "It seems we have a spy aboard; I requested a team of engineers and received only one. Bring him to me; I wish to interrogate him... personally." She was good, the woman behind that icy voice, even better than Ilvos. And as the troopers approached, taking away his blaster and marching him toward the door, he realized just how little he was looking forward to meeting her.

PostSubject: Re: The Lignan Affair (Open)   The Lignan Affair (Open) Icon_minitimeMon Jul 26, 2010 10:41 am

The last few months for Grizz had been mostly filled with drills, and patrolling, at best some sort of battlefield scenario that the drill sergeants managed cook up for the troops. Since the days of the Treaty, everyone is posted on alert, waiting for a possible Sith attack or any betrayal of the sort. Curiously, they were doing the same thing on the opposite side, a stalemate, in other words. No one was ready to go to war yet. However Garza’s been using the newly formed Republic Special Forces to launch cover assaults at strategic Imperial holdings. The Senate, after hearing the words of a massive cache of Lignan crystals, after strip mining one of the moons of Phaegon III, was disturbed to say the least. They tasked for an elite task force, to destroy its cargo. Members of the Republic Special Forces consisted of this task force, along with the now Corporal Grizz Meshurik. While he did enjoy a relatively new change to the usual daily routines, he did express some sort of distaste at the roster.

The mission timer was still 00:00:00, which meant they didn’t arrive in the Sith dreadnought yet. Grizz fumbled with his rifle, examining the workings and the aesthetics. Truth to be told, he was nervous, more so than ever. Considering that the Kirrek Avenger had almost every single of their broadside turbolasers tracking the shuttle’s progress. Also, a smuggler piloted the ship, and they were notorious for attracting trouble. Suspecting the worst he fully expected them to be blown up at any moment.

That moment never came.

Instead the Sith contacted the shuttle, and cleared them for landing in one of the hangar bays. He could sense the relief between the task force’s members, they were practically emanating it. Letting out a brief chuckle, Grizz started the timer, and tracked the shuttle’s progress as they entered the hangar. Once they did so, the troopers began performing a thorough check of their equipment. He noted that as they did so, the smuggler proceeded to greet the welcoming party. Grizz braced for it, if the man was spotted, the entire mission could be jeopardized! Luckily he pulled it off; while they were walking away he gave that Jedi, Traxex Wraw, thumbs up. Grizz was ready to exit the ship, when he heard, “Hi my name is John” as the man extended his arm for a handshake with a Jedi. Everyone else was getting ready to move out, checking their gear or already doing so. Grizz spoke in a measured tone, as he walked down the ramp,“This isn’t the time to make friends, get moving before they inspect this shuttle.”

Once he was outside outside, he dived towards several stacks of crates, and spotting a maintenance conduit on the right side. The doors were sealed, but Grizz opened the panel next to it, and began keying his way in the system. Several moments passed, before the door opened with a hiss, as he managed to slice it open. Smiling, he crouched and entered the “tube”, and started crawling. It was cold, cramped, and but it suited his purposes perfectly. He figured that he would have to slice the next door when it comes. To remind himself on where he went, he noted every single junction he started and travelled in, starting with this one. The Sith were correct to seal these doors, as it could pose a potent security risk. As is usual to any militarized starship, one must take precautions. Meshurik sighed, it was going to be a long time before he found anything worthy to "sabotage", as he finally remembered the size of the dreadnought. It was starting to get uncomfortable too, crawling through this little space with armor on, he could only just fit inside.

“Cpl. Meshurik, entering maintenance conduit 18-A, and proceeding to move towards key points marked on map display. Sabotage is in order.”

(OOC: scratch that, im not an old man anymore, since this is a year after rakghouls)

Even though Grizzs' attitude didnt like it, Trax did shake the man named John's hand.

It was Trax's job to take down all security cameras, without attracting attention. Hehehe, piece of cake.

Traxex went the way opposite of Grizz. He saw a camera already, but Trax knew he was in the cameras' blind spot. Taking out a blaster pistol only meant to destroy the cameras, Trax shot, and the camera was down. The console to open the door had a code. So, Trax just overloaded it opening the door. The hallway was very long, a camera almost looking at Traxex. Fortunately, all cameras rotated, and that gave Trax some time. Seeing a vent below his feet, Trax cut it open and crouched down. Walking through the vents, Trax was brought to the shipping docks sector. No cameras where Trax was. Hehe, perfect

There were only 3 men in there at the time. The first one was simple. He was thrown across the hanger, into a pile of junk. The soldiers did notice however, but they could not find the body.

Perfect, Trax thought.

The other 2 men got their rifles ready to kill one went east, the other went west. When the one on the west side of the hanger came above the vent, Trax sprung out, knocking the man down. Trax stabbed him with his orange lightsaber. The other one went running.

Trax pulled the man towards him. "Disable all the cameras in this sector"

The man did as he was told. After disabling the cameras in this sector of the ship, Trax force persuaded the man to destroy the terminal and to tell him where the main console is. After that, Trax killed the man.

Good, attention is towards me. Lets hope everyone else can do their jobs...

((OOC: Trax's destruction of the terminal would set off maintenance alarms, but I didn't have space to include them in my post.))

There was no doubt in Ilvos's mind that he could escape.

Even as he walked along the halls, hands raised, a blaster at his back, he knew he was far from helpless. These three expected him to try to run for it, but he didn't have to. Reaching into his mind and steadying his accelerated breathing and heart rate, he watched the precise motions he would have to go through, predicting the Sith response. He would twist and duck, pushing the blaster rifle back toward the trooper's faceplate. Out of reflex, the man would fire; one down by his own hand. As he fell, Ilvos would grab his gauntleted hand and smash it into the officer's throat, using the power of unyielding metal and gravity alike to crush the man's trachea; another down by the hand of an ally. Panicked, the other trooper would fire wildly. This would be the tricky part. The smuggler would interpose the officer's gasping body between him and the shots, soaking up the attack. Then he would draw the officer's sidearm and finish the battle. The last down by the weapon of a superior.

But if he did that, Ilvos would endanger the whole mission. His escape would prompt the Sith to mount a search, and that would give them the chance to discover the rest of the task force. If he was to prevent that from happening, he had to endure interrogation and convince the crew that he had acted alone; he could only pray that the shuttle had been vacated by now, for that would certainly be searched even if his story was believed. As he walked, he wiggled his task force comlink out of his vest and down his sleeve, slowly disassembling it with one hand. He casually littered the pieces one at a time as he walked; if it was found, he didn't have a prayer of being believed. For a moment he deeply wished that, like the Jedi, he could send silent mental messages to allies, but he dismissed the thought. He was not a Jedi, and never would be, so there was no point in moping about it. He would make do with what he had, as always.

The door they arrived at was no different from any other, but Ilvos still felt cold dread clutch at his heart as the officer pressed the comm button. "We've arrived with the prisoner, captain," he said, the look on his face full of fear. After a moment the door opened with a hiss, revealing a sparsely-furnished cabin, hard and symmetrical like the rest of the ship. "Enter," came the cold voice, and the four entered. The infamous Feyas Laeth stood in front of a lone viewport, the first the smuggler had seen aboard the dreadnought. She had a refined, almost delicate beauty to her, and yet somehow she was hard as diamond at the same time. "Lieutenant," she said, addressing the officer, "the best of us make mistakes." "Th... thank you, Cap-" The rest of his words were cut off in a strangled cry of pain as Laeth pressed the barrel of a blaster against his left ring finger and fired, blowing it clean off. "That will remind you not to make another one."

"Ye... yes, Captain," he sobbed, managing a feeble salute. "Leave us," she commanded. "The prisoner and I have much to... discuss."

John readied his equiptment and followed traxex. By the time he reached him the console was broken. John checked his pack and checked his list of the tools he had. "where to next" he asked, drawing his blaster and hooking a few time bombs to his utility belt. his droid soon rolled up behind him ready to slice doors open.

(OOC: Keep it to at least a paragraph per post guys, as mentioned in the description of the RP. Thanks.)

Grizz grumbled to himself as he made his way through the maintenance conduit. It was awfully long, considering the size of the ship itself. He didn’t see or hear anyone else yet, but he had a feeling he was going to. There was a tube junction, several meters away; Grizz quickened his pace so that he could reach it. When he did, he saw that it was interconnected, linking all the different tubes. There were panels, control interfaces, and some sort of relays along the walls. He managed to crawl out of the tube and crouched inside the small junction. After a moment of examining the interface, he realized that it was connected to the lateral sensor array. Not the main one of course, but it could provide useful in taking out the ship’s backup. Opening a panel next to it he saw that it was part of the power grid, one of the few that distributed power to the systems listed. Lateral Sensor Array, Main Engineering, main propulsion, and the hyperdrive. However if he was to destroy these relays, it would set off alarms and only take a part out of the power grid. Not enough to cause any substantial damage, as they would compensate with a backup or with the rest of the relays.

Suddenly the maintenance alarms were blaring and a message from the Chief Engineer was transmitting through the comms. Grizz had no idea what happened, just as he was about to dive in one of the tubes, the doors were sealed shut. He pounded on one to no avail, and prepared to slice in,. But before, he checked the Imperial Communoications channel, there was a lot of chatter, but the officers silenced them. Then, the Chief Engineer resumed his announcement, Grizz noted that his voice was strangely monotonous and lacked any emotion at all. It was as if the man's using a voice module or something akin to that, "Security to the shipping area, there is a destroyed holo-cams terminal, and we lost contact with all the cameras in that area, along with the crewmen posted there. I want a detail there right now, in case of an intruder; I’m putting several areas of the ship on lockdown. Including the maintenance conduits, crewmen, you have your codes if you need to make your way into the hallways. Cease all maintenance activities, and be on high alert until we find out what happened. I will inform the Captain of this, out.”

Cursing, Grizz knew that one of the task force’s team members just decided it would be alright to do something so foolish that could jeopardize the mission. He didn’t suspect the troopers, since they would think twice before doing something like that, smugglers are smart enough not to do it, so that could only mean a Jedi. He continued to slice the terminal, and eventually, after a long moment of clicking buttons, a door opened. Emblazoned on the door was the designation, maintenance conduit 23-B. Relieved that he finally got the door working, Grizz set the terminal to overload if he inputted a command into the system, so that the relay would stop working, along with others if he did the same thing. Putting the panel back on the wall once more, Grizz crawled inside the tube, sealing the door shut again once he was inside. There was a lot of work ahead, more than he suspected.

So much for being discreet, he thought back to the abrupt announcement of the destroyed terminal and the holo-cams.

What is with that dude and pipes?...think we'd take the door...Hey! Snap out of it! Zack blinks afew times and shakes his head to re-focus himself, checking his gear and the area for any stray soldiers before hopping down from the ship. Almost as soon as his feet touches the ground, he broke for the nearest stack of crates as he pulls out his pistol. He was actually pretty pumped after the last few days, looking forward to finally seeing some action. He did find it weird though that the Republic knew where to find him and that he was thrown into the Task Force as a last minute recruit. I better be getting paid enough for this... "Alright...now.." He peaks out over the crate and scanned the area, taking a deep breath. Clear.... He nods and quickly makes another break to the nearest door, sliding to a stop and looks around once more. He wasn't going to take any chances at getting caught. As he looked around he tried to open the door, only to find that it was locked. "Of course...they also have to take precautions...instead of taking whats coming.." He grumbles and fumbles around his belt for a small spike.

As he find the spike and drives it into the panel, he was wondering how the rest of the team was. That soldier took the pipe...that pilot can be anywhere in here and that Jedi...well...hope he isn't doing something stupid...Naw, he wouldn't... His thought process broke as the door confirms the information and opens up, making him smile as he sneaks threw. Finally something going....His thought breaks again, hearing the alarm and the door slamming behind him and locking ....wrong.... "Great..." He mutters before pressing himself against the wall, keeping his pistol held out as he starts thinking of a new plan. "Hope the others are having a better time then me..."

((hope this is alright ^^; ))

PostSubject: Re: The Lignan Affair (Open)   The Lignan Affair (Open) Icon_minitimeTue Jul 27, 2010 12:21 am

((OOC: Looks solid to me, Zack. On another note, I has a sad: I thought I made a post in this thread, but it was only a preview when I closed the window. Sum frustratus. Oh, and Grizz is quite right; thanks, Corporal.))

The officer hobbled off, supported by his subordinates; Ilvos looked longingly at the door as it slammed shut behind them. When he looked back, it was straight into the cold, emotionless crimson eyes of Feyas Laeth. How she'd crossed the distance between them with such speed and stealth he couldn't imagine; his estimation of her rose once again. Before he could react, her fist connected with the underside of his chin, flipping him once fully over in the air and bringing him crashing down on a bare durasteel table. He groaned and rolled over, tasting blood from where he'd bitten his tongue when the strike had jammed his teeth together. She was on him again before he could do more; the side of her foot connected with the side of his head, sending him down to the ground. Stars danced before his eyes, and the air was driven from his lungs by the impact with the hard durasteel. And then her booted foot was on his throat; he gasped, trying to reclaim the lost air, but he could not draw breath.

The foot did not lift as darkness pressed in on Ilvos's vision; focusing his mind, he looked through his body, carefully distributing what little oxygen remained. Even long after he should've he didn't pass out, though if Feyas was impressed she didn't show it. "How many others are there," she finally asked, lifting her boot just enough so that he had sufficient air to stay conscious and answer but not to fill his lungs. He coughed and spluttered, and she pressed her boot down again. "Too slow," she said, as though she were coaching a sports team rather than choking the life from a man. "Do not continue to test my patience." At that moment, maintenance alarms blared throughout the ship, and her comlink flared to life. "Captain, the security grid in the loading area has suffered damage; we're moving to investigate. I've also locked the area down, along with the engine section and the secure cargo holds." Ilvos swore internally; his bluff had just been made much harder to pull off.

"I'll ask again," Laeth said to him. "How many others are there?" Ilvos made a sound that was half cough and half laugh. "That officer was a fool; he didn't even see me set the charges. Against Sith like that, who needs-" She choked him off again, obviously mulling over his response; he'd made it easier to bluff by not outright denying that he had accomplices, and hopefully that would be enough. And then a louder alarm blared, and the comlink activated again. "Captain, we've located the intruders; they're in the communications section. They've neutralized Patrol 26-D. I've sealed all doors leading to the area, though the intruders have clearly been slicing them. We've got four security details and a Massassi squad surrounding the exits in case they manage to repeat that." "Very good, Commander," Feyas said, reaching for her blaster. "I'll be there as soon as I take care of-" It was Ilvos's turn to cut her off. There was no point in continuing his ruse if the others had been discovered.

Grasping her boot with both hands, he rolled fully onto his upper back and kicked the Imperial Agent in the back of the knee, twisting her foot and pushing upward at the same time. Had she been on her guard it never would've worked, but the comlink call had distracted her just long enough. She fell, hitting the deck plating almost as hard as Ilvos had; the smuggler regained his feet and ran for the door. Before he could reach it, he heard a whistling of air that caused him to duck, then swear in dismay. The throwing knife that had nearly hit him at the base of the neck had hit its secondary target. Sparks flew from the impaled door controls; he was trapped with his former captor. Turning back, he observed the situation; Feyas's blaster had flown from its holster, and was now between the two combatants. Each of them realized it at the same time, and each of them ran and dove for it, fingers outstretched...

John took out his blaster and dashed down the hallway to the trminal in the other room. he accsessed the pannel and a screen poped up for a password "chuba peedunkee t4m4 can ou slice this?" the droid whistled and beeped as it rolled to the pannel and placed its couplink into the terminal. as the droid was unlocking the terminal john heared a patrol comeing down the hallway, he slid behind a pile of boxes and drew his blaster. "3...2...1"he tough before jumping from behind the boxes killing 4 troopers and leaveing 2 for the jedi. "that andles that" he sai as his droid whistled and beeped indicateing it was done "thanks" john said while accsessing the pannel, he went through and sliced security, he locked al doors to the communications room but one and to the commmand center. he then uploaded the new map layout and sent it to everyones datapad. he sighed and sent a transmission saying "please dont set off anymore alarms". he then activated the terminal again and changed the password to 'alphacharlie' and deactivated the alarm. john turned to his droid "the sun sets more beautylully on the world without war" he sad calmly and repeated it once more before slideing to the cround to relax.

...fingers outstretched, the lightsaber flew to meet my call. With an almost triumphant snap-hiss, the violet blade winked into existence, and I brought it up to my Master's throat.

There was a long silence, and then Master Sken grinned widely.

'Congratulations, Vyynn Randos. You have officially and successfully completed the Jedi Trials.'

Breathing heavily, I turned the blade off and turned to face the speaker. The High Council, most of the Temple's Jedi, and Jessa were assembled on the edge of the garden. Jessa winked at me, and the realization of what had just happened bloomed in my chest.

I just became a Jedi.

Master Sken stood, and brushed herself off. I looked down at ourselves, and almost burst out laughing. We were both soaked to the bone, covered in mud, and our clothes were barely adequete to be called such, with all the burned streaks from the blades. She leaned closer as we strode to meet the Council.

'I specifically requested that I be the Jedi to test your bladework. I had no idea it would be an equal test for me!'

I turned red, pleased, as Sken chuckled.

'You honor me, Master.'

'You should probably get used to calling me Jaina, Vyynn.'

Yeah, like that was ever likely to happen.

I handed Jaina's lightsaber to the white-haired Jedi and knelt, who promptly ignited it.

'Having witnessed this man's abilities and skills, I, Master Jephos Mispir, confer Knightship upon Vyynn Randos.' He lowered the blade for a moment on either shoulder.

'Rise, and serve the Jedi Order well. May the Force be with you.'

I stood, trembling. 'And with you, Master.'

There was silence. And then Jessa cheered.

So like her to break the mood. And so like her to always do it when it was needed.

The surrounding Knights burst into applause and cheering, as the Masters of High Council clapped politely. Before I heard a single word, I could feel the un-smothered congratulations and warmth from those gathered through the Force.

I had done it.

...

I let my face mold itself into mock disgust. 'You know, you could've gone a little easier on my saber,' I said, holding the two useless ends.

Jaina winked at me. 'I figured you had enough of an advantage with that interesting little Force trick of yours. I'll never look at lightsaber combat the same again'.

Master Mispir and Jessa looked at each other in confusion, but I knew what she meant.

Throughout the fight, I had been focusing on keeping her ability to draw on the Force suppressed and confused, while simultaneously attempting to keep myself shielded. Unable to draw fully on her power, she had pressed aggressively with my blade. With a quick reversal feint, she had cut my saber neatly in two.

Jessa bumped my shoulder, slightly teasing. 'We thought you were done for after you lost your saber.'

I thought I had been too. Mostly overcome by my shock at losing what had been my constant companion for years, Jaina almost managed to get me into submission. While mindful of her footwork, her attention had moved onward, and had already forgotten the branch when I pulled it into her arm. She had lost her grip then, and we had both tumbled like younglings into the mud grasping for her saber.

We arrived at my room, and Caliber turned to face me.

'Vyynn, you're free to go about your business until the Council has need of you.'

His face warmed slightly, a light smile touching his lips. 'A well-deserved congratulations, as well. We knew you could do it.'

Jaina frowned at him, and began a teasing argument with Master Mispir as they walked away, leaving me alone Jessa.

Truly alone. For the last few weeks, I had spent every single waking moment training and studying. Master Sken had been my shadow, drilling and redrilling until I had everything buttoned up. Mealtimes were the only time I had to spare, and the few minutes were spent under the intense scrutiny of both my Master and hers. Without the pressure of watching eyes, I appraised Jessa for the first time in weeks, giving her my full attention.

Her hair had gradually tinted from a flat black to a lighter brown, a color that went along with softer, more relaxed features than before. Jessa was no longer the angry, vengeful woman from Taris. Under the gentle and firm hand of Caliber, she had developed a much softer demeanor. She looked much healthier. Since our conversation in the meditation chambers, I had decided to respect her privacy and not probe her through the Force, but even without, I could plainly see that her trauma, if not completely healed, was well on its way.

All together did nothing to restrain her as she flung her arms around me in a squeal of delight.

'You did it!'

Looking around at the lay out of the hangar rellian sees a stack of crates up against a wall about 20 meters away. "I can make that." Diving, tucking and rolling he gets up dusts him self off. Double checking all of his gear to see if anything fell out. "Gah!" His knife and a grenade is laying about 3 and 4 meters away. Poking his head out to see if anyone was looking. "Okay coast is clear."

Taking one step out to grab the stuff he dropped rellian realized that there was an HK droid stairing him right in the face. Feeling a wave of panic fall over him rellian started thinking, 'maybe if I boss this thing around like his masters I might get out of this undetected.' Standing straight up after picking up the knife and grenade he talks sternly to the droid. "Get over here you piece of scrap!" The HK droid walks a few steps and says "quere: master why do you have a republic uniform on?" 'Crap.' He thought as he came up with an interesting answer, "There are rebulic troops on the ship and I am trying to blend in to sabotage them. Now get over here you malfunctioning pile of metal." The HK takes the bait and closes the gap. Quickly sticking the knife in his processor and dragging the body behind the crates with him. "Got to get a disguise...hmmm."

Once he got to the end of the hall, Zack carefully peeks out, checking for any guards coming to his area. Hallway clear.... He smiles to himself and looks around. His task was to slow the ship's progress down to a crawl. If I can find the engine room that is.... He snorts as he goes with his gut instinct and follows the left hallway, hoping it would lead him in the right direction. Unfortunately, as he rounded the corner he came to a abrupt stop, almost falling forward and quick jumps back and pressing himself against the wall as a soldier looks over his shoulder. Another step and I would have collided.... He silently huffs as the soldier sounded like he looked back, muttering. 'Intruders....right....been stuck on this ship for who knows how long...' Zack just rolled his eyes and mouthed after the soldier, mocking him. Sheesh...can he shut up?.....I think he can....

He peeks back around to see the solder take a few steps forward and opens a nearby door, carefully following as he listens for any additional soldiers. As he hears the soldier move around, not hearing any other voices. He nods to himself and takes a deep breath before turning to the door and steps threw, making a bum rush when the soldier turned. 'Hey! Who are yo-OOF!' He didn't get to finish the sentence as Zack sent his fist into his jaw, making him stumble over to the side. He saw the soldier try to reach for his rifle, but Zack quickly spun his pistol and pistol whipped him to knock him out. "Whew...dang he has a hard chin..Now...the part I hate." He groans in his head and reaches for the now limp body.

After some struggling with the clothes, he lifted the body and moves it to have it propped up, hidden from view and steps out of the room. He adjusts his new uniform and rifle, scratching his chest. Arrgh! Why do I have to get the itchy disguise?!? "Dang it..just ignore it." He nods to himself and checks his pistol before looking back down the hall, taking casual steps to not look suspicious. "Now to the engine room, wherever it is."

[OOC: Guys, you are practically giving your positions (with any information you mentioned) away when you're talking in an open comms channel. John, you're also one of those people that's been doing that, and your slicing attempts will not be that easy, it'll be much harder now that people know you're there. And if you do something like killing a patrol, please DESCRIBE it. Jumping from behind a box with a blaster (don't even know if its a pistol or rifle) and outright taking shots at a couple 4 fully armored Sith Troopers, it's a bit unlikely that you'll kill all of them quickly. (And llvos mentioned in his post that they posted patrols in all the exits of the communications area, while sealing all the doors). So please edit your posts John and Rellian.]

Grizz had been slicing his way in through what it seems like countless tubes. Each with several doors in them that were sealed thanks to the maintenance alarms that had been set off. He was trying to get to the Communications suite, and on the way taking the path that led him to the largest amount of power relays. Just ahead was a huge junction, with a mass of panels containing several, along with other panels containing circuitry that correspond with several other sections of the ship. It was all going rather well, until he stumbled across a magnetically sealed door. This would be difficult, since those doors are often encrypted heavily, and it will take time to pass through the systems. Considering that the ship’s been put on lockdown, if he failed, they would be alerted of his presence in the maintenance conduits.

An explosive should get me through, but that’ll alert them of a breach…

He crawled several steps back, and spotted a panel, he opened it. There was an interface, connected with the magnetic seals, if he could just find out how to manipulate it without being noticed, he could get the door to open. Starting to tinker with the mainframe, Grizz took out several cables and cut them, while rearranging the overall circuitry. After a long while, he finally managed to get the door to open. Sighing in relief, he walked in the large junction, making sure no one was around, before examining it. It was just as he suspected, he would need to start from here. Taking out his datapad, he prepared some sort of hidden command within, so that with a blink to his HUD he can set off a couple well placed explosives or overloads. He went with the overloads and began doing so to the rest of the panels. While he did so, he began to hear several noises by the tube to the right, someone was coming. Stopping his work he put the panels back on and pressed himself to the side. There was a hiss, and someone came out, an Imperial Ensign from the look of the uniform.

“Great, I have to repair one of the-“He was cut off as Grizz drew his pistol and put a stunning blaster bolt on the man’s head. Knocked out instantly, Grizz opened a horizontal tube, and threw the man in, a loud thud ensued between the walls. The man was dead of course. Satisfied that he made it look like some sort of accident, Grizz continued his work, opening more panels and grabbing several cables, rearranging them. He intended to overload them in a voice command or a simply press of a datapad. Working quietly, he wondered what the others were doing, hoping nothing serious had happened.

((OOC: I would say this: it helps people get into the story if you describe your fight scenes thoroughly. If it's too early in the morning to post details, I would advise waiting a little while until you're more awake.))

Feyas was fast, but Ilvos had been in more bar fights where this had been the situation than he could count, and the blaster was slightly closer to him. The two combatants reached the weapon at the same time, but it was the smuggler who managed to grasp it, trying to get a clear shot at his opponent's head. She jumped on top of him, both hands clasping the arm holding the blaster and pushing it away from her vitals. The two of them rolled over and over, crashing down to the hard durasteel deck plating one after the other as each briefly gained the advantage. Trying to make him drop the weapon, Feyas grasped Ilvos's little finger with practiced hands and pushed it back. He made a sound that was half grunt and half growl as the finger traveled further and further back in a direction it wasn't meant to bend; pain slowly loosened his other fingers. But he wormed his way into his body's processes, numbing the nerves in the area; when the finger finally broke, he didn't even feel it.

The Chiss had clearly expected the tactic to work, though she was too well trained to show her surprise. Trying to gain the upper hand, Ilvos fired several shots from the sidearm. Feyas ducked her head to avoid them, moving her cheekbone straight into the smuggler's left fist. The impact threw her off of him, allowing him to regain his feet by the time she scrambled to her knees, but as he pointed the blaster down at her she took hold of him by the arm and flipped him neatly over her head and onto his back, once again knocking the wind out of him. Gasping for breath for the second time within five standard minutes, he marveled at the strength contained in her lithe form. He didn't have much time to think about it; he soon realized that the blaster had left his hand during his fall, hitting the ground a meter away. He wasn't in a good position to lunge for it; instead he grabbed Feyas as she tried to jump across him to reach it, pulling her down on top of his chest.

"You know," Ilvos panted as she struggled to escape his grasp, "if someone were standing outside and could only guess what was happening based on the sounds," he slid his arms under hers and pulled upwards, trying to prevent her from hitting him in the face, "that person would probably guess that it was pretty sexy." He was rewarded for that pronouncement when she slipped from his hold and elbowed him in the nose, causing it to snap audibly and gush blood. "Ub umtil about dat point," he amended, finding it difficult to speak. Feyas lunged over him again, trying to reach the pistol, but he kicked it further away. She tucked and rolled, but he shoved her with all his might as she went, and she overshot the weapon and slammed into the wall. As she turned back to face him, he noted that purple bruises were now developing on both of her cheeks, one from his earlier punch and one from her recent crash-roll. "Cosmetics are less painful, you know," he said as he pushed himself back up.

Ilvos realized too late that his enemy was near the door controls and wearing insulated gloves. Feyas pulled the knife free in a shower of sparks, then ran and lunged for him, blade outstretched. He imitated her dive-roll but managed to travel the correct distance, coming up with the blaster in his hand and pointing it at the approaching Chiss. He squeezed the trigger an instant too late; with one swipe of the amazingly sharp knife, she separated the barrel from the rest of the blaster, rendering it useless. The smuggler was simply glad he still had all of his fingers; flinging the worthless plasteel handle of the blaster in his foe's face, he rolled backwards and under the lone table, regaining his feet on the other side of it. They circled the barrier as he did his best to keep her on the other side of it, his eyes fixed on the gleaming knife in her hand as her emotionless eyes bored into the intended target of the chest wall directly above his heart...

"Freeze, Jedi"

Two troopers, one Jedi. Come on, do you really think you can win?

"Uh, you how how badly i can beat you two, right?"

The troopers didnt respond. They had their rifles pointed at the jedi.

"Alright, if you wanna play it that way..."

Trax drew his gold and fire-orange lightsabers from his hips, the troopers shooting. Changing his form to Soresu, Trax defleted the bolts, not even bothering to send them back. Trax just walked closer and closer, drawing fear into the troopers.

The troopers started running. Trax pulled them back, enjoying the moment.

"Ohhh, no you don't!" One of the troopers took out a combat knife, ready to jab Traxex in the chest with it.

"Oh, whats this?" Trax grabbed the trooper's arm and twisted it, breaking it. The trooper screamed, the other one running away. Again, Trax used the force to pull the trooper back. Trax took the knife, throwing it to the side. The trooper was in pain, holding his limp arm and weeping on the ground.
The other one was terrified.

"Well hey, I warned you two!"

"Please, dont kill us! What do you want?"

"Your datapad, your passcard, and your grenades."

The troopers gave Trax what he wanted.

"What else?"

"Hmmm, nothing for now. Just sit in the corner. If you move, or contact anyone else, ill come back to break both of your arms. Will this passcard work in lockdown situations?"

"You need the password as well."

"What is it?"

"Ruby Bliels."

"Your lying."

"No, im not.

The trooper thought for a moment, then spoke.

"So what, you'll never get it out of me."

Bad mistake.

Trax cut the troopers head clean off, then turned to the other one.

"What is the password?"

"Jektar."

"If its wrong your dead."

With that, Trax went towards the door out of the shipping hangar. Trax inserted the passcard, and spoke the password. "Jektar"
The door opened.

"Good boy sith. Rest peacefully."

Trax used the force to make the weak minded being fall asleep. Now i should fix this mess...

(WOW, Vyynn, you super-god-modded me XD, It's cool though, I don't mind)

For the first time in months, Jessa could feel the force. As she sat in soldem silence in the mediation room opposite her master, Caliber Mispir, she could feel a small trickle of energy flow through him, like a gentle wave, it reached out to her, wrapping itself around her, letting her feel it's power.

The force.

It felt so good just to be near it's presence again, even though it was only faint and miniscual. Master Mispir did indeed hold much more power than the small amount the Padawan had managed to reach out to and sense. It was if the force had opened it's arms to the woman (for that is what she had now become in the words of her Master) again, giving her a second chance. But, no doubt, the force, as well as herself were being cautious. The dark taint she had felt, it was still there, deep within her, still thick in her blood.

Mispir had told her that her force had not been completely severed, Lord Jaken had been too weak to complete the move and had fallen short. Instead however the force had caged itself away from her due to her nearly falling to the darkside. She had been lucky that her powers hadn't gone for ever.

The Padawan had also regained her sight and could now see perfectly like before, the medics and consulars were surprised by the speed recover, seeing as many of her midichlorian (though high in number in comparsion to the average Jedi) seemed inactive. But inspite of all the sucess and mircoles the recovering girl's legs refused to fully heal, leaving her handicapped and in need of a cane most of the time, however, Master Mispir had been working on teaching her how to use her lightsaber momentum when fighting to keep steady and moving without her cane (which would severly hamper her), Jessa had yet to implement the technique out of battle however and continued to use her cane or crutches when travelling about in areas of certain safety.

Because of the lack of Force running through the Padawan's veins, Jessa's own lightsabers greatly increased, as much of her previous training had focused on the force instead, seeing as her destiny headed towards the specialization of Force Warrior due to her high force sensitive (with a midchlorian count of 13,000) and using the momentum trick before develop her own lightsaber style which is a varient of niman form, changing it to suit her body and handicap.

The former Knight's choice of Niman was partly because it suited her disability but also because it's said to strengthen the flow of the force through you and a small part of her heart, hoped against haope that it was true. It was also, sometimes able to rejuvinate and help mediate and Jessa found it a very useful form to have, though it is consider the diplomate's form which she didn't mind seeing as she wasn't fighting anytime soon.

The female Padawan opened her eyes slowly, facing her own master's light blue eyes, which looked unwavingly at her's. Jessa owed him so much, her Master had not only showed her the way of the light cleary, but also gave her advice and listen to her story even through all the tears and in the end, without Mispir she knew she wouldn't have made it this far. Outside of training the master and student got on well with each other, finding much in common with one another and developing a growing bond, however in training everything was serious, they were no time to waste, Jessa's powers had to be restored and her progessed continued.

He stood up, his strong figure, showing off some evident hard-work and strength, it will still a shock to here that the Hapan was only 1 year older than herself and already a master. On the council no less.

"You're friend, Vyynn is nearing the end of his trial, Jaina told me you would like to watch it"

Jessa nodded vigirously, eagar to see her close friend earn the rank she knew he deserved, the rank she had lost.

The two headed there in complete silence, which was unusual for them. They normally spoke to each other, calling each other fondly by their joke names "HBFL" which stood for Hug Buddies For Life, due to their obssesion with hugging one another whenever they meet.

As they headed to the temple, the battle had already begun between the master and apprentice, Jessa watch carefully, praying to god that Vyynn would win. As the two fought, it reminded her of the Padawan's own trial which had been much more force-based that Vyynn's lightsaber duel. As she watched from the edge of the garden her heart swelled with joy, as she watched Vyynn bring his violet lightsaber to his master's throat. He seemed to be in shock, turning to Jessa and prompting her to give him a wink to tell it was true.

He'd made it.

The Padawan watched with pride as the shaky and clearly shooked Vyynn moved up to Master Jephos and recieved his knighthood, suddenly a silence fell the air. Jessa frown, if there was anything she hated, it was an awkward silence at a joyful moment. At the shock of her master, she gave a huge cheer, prompting others the follow, apart from the council members, who remained steely composed.

Vyynn began speaking to his Master in a cheery discussion, talking about an inside joke or something. For some reason, seeing the two together, obviously getting along brought on some light jealousy. But she pushed it aside straight away, jealousy was not the Jedi way and it was no like Vyynn belong to her or anything.

When the two finished talking, Vyynn headed to Jessa, as she flashed him her brightest smile. The padawan gave him a light punch on the shoulder, mostly because she felt it would be awkward to hug him.

'We thought you were done for after you lost your saber.'

She spoke coyly, teasing him. The three of them headed slowly towards Vyynn's remove but before they entered Master Mispir decided to his leave.

"Vyynn, you're free to go about your business until the Council has need of you.'

His face warmed slightly, a light smile touching his lips. 2A well-deserved congratulations, as well. We knew you could do it."

The master then was on his way, leaving the two alone for the first time in ages, every since the time in the mediation room if Jessa could re-call correctly. With no eyes prying on them the young woman felt she could finally do what she had wanted to do for ages, she try her arms around Vyynn's neck and embraced him, even letting out a small girlish squeal.

"You did it"

Not paying attention, she had dropped her crutches in the arupt hug, as she apologized, blushing deeply, Jessa and Vyynn's face brushed close to one another, so close in face, their lips almost touched. Still blushing, she slowly reached down for her crutches and sloted them back on.

"Sometimes I forget I even have them" she gave a warm smile "shall we head in then?"
